Bossier Parish just cut off my homestead exemption because I’m on PCS orders out of the state.

Is there seriously no exception for active duty on orders out of the state? What a brilliant way to guarantee I don’t buy a house and return to Louisiana, all for a little extra tax money.

You expected to keep homestead exemption for an investment property/rental?
Do other states actually do this for military?

You said "You are renting". If you mean you are renting another place for you to live temporarily while you are on duty, then I agree with you and you shouldn't lose your exemption. If you mean you are renting this place out to tenants, then the tax assessor is right and you don't get the exemption.
