LSU offered him a scholarship in 2020

Correct but they also offered Arch & you know 2 Elite 11 QBs were not going to the same school in the same year. While Ed's staff was chasing Arch and had offered Eli, they were not recruiting Eli as hard as other SEC schools were. aTm and Alabama have always been on him even though Bama didn't offer as early.
Known his kid since he was young and he is not afraid to compete. His Dad just knew that he could get quality playing time at a HS that didn't have the son of a legend playing QB a year ahead of him. JH is really good and Eli would have only had 1 year to be the starter. Instead he has started either 2 or 3 years already and has a 5A state championship to show for it. No need to "save face" when you are planning on a professional career for many years.

Arch was never coming here and LSU has known that for a long time.Your boy was committed to A&M before Brian Kelly even arrived here. It’s ok you don’t have to pander, the kid didn’t want to go to LSU.If LSU has to kiss your arse for you to want to go there then you aren’t that big on LSU from the get go.Saban is his daddy now,and Saban isn’t going to stop recruiting QBs just because he is on their team. Also Saban was recruiting Arch harder than just about anybody. He attended his basketball games lol,so please stop using Arch as an excuse
