Is Westworld a show that needs to be watched in sequence from Year One? Apparently there is character development and relationships?

Absolutely. This show has a ton of depth and layers to it. Each episode builds on the previous one and is relevant to future episodes. There aren’t really any self-contained stories. Everything is connected. This isn’t like a typical cable action show where there’s a villain/monster of the week, and maybe a couple real overarching plots discussed at the beginning and end of each episode.

Westworld is one continuous story, with all kinds of timeline shenanigans. It’s difficult to not get lost even if you have seen every episode.

You are correct. However, taking two. years per season kills any momentum. The 8 episode seasons are killing the storytelling. Too much feels compressed because of the short season.

The ratings have declined every year. Some of it is because of the show itself but the structural problems such as long layoffs and shortened seasons are hurting the show.
