Foreflight and an iPad. It's about $120 a year but charts/weather/traffic/etc... amazing tool

Congrats! That’s a huge first step. At which airport are you taking your lessons?

I don’t remember the number, but there is a considerable percentage of student pilots who never finish. If I could offer any advice it would be to find the right instructor, take your time, don’t worry about the money, and enjoy the ride!

I had three different instructors for my private, and got so frustrated that I wanted to quite a few times. Honestly, the only thing that kept me in it was that I bought the training plane (PA-28-160) from my first instructor after he got called up to ATP. It was a great idea and worked out well for me, but otherwise I likely would have never finished.
