Giannis was seen as having a ceiling of what he has become. He was also seen as possibly being another gigantic Euro-bust like a Bargnani or a Nikoloz Tskitishvili.
That last one? 5th overall to the Nuggets in 2002. He looked great in drills and had good measurable but it turns out he couldn’t play. At all.
Playing against a third or fourth tier competition in Greece made it very hard to figure out if he was that good or if he was just playing against shite.

Again, not propping up OD, just playing Devil’s advocate as it goes with predicting player development vs what actually happens. Fun stuff.
