I've never been to the UP proper, but I have spent time in the Wisconsin northwoods about 25 miles West. That area is awesome! As to my previous post about dork county, it runs parallel to the UP across lake Michigan

Going to Door county, Wisconsin In 2 weeks. The whole peninsula is about 6-10 Miles wide. Lake Michigan on one side, dreams that you're on the other. Average daytime high is about 80
What are you doing there and where are you staying? Fishing?

I want to plan a trip to the UP. I've heard Door County, WI, is nice. It's on Green Bay.

Going with wife's family. Will fish bass, walleye, etc...but 10 kids total and 1 Joe boat with a 25 hp engine limits your options!

I'll let you know. Both UP and Door County boarder Green Bay and Lake Michigan. I know they catch lake trout, pike, even salmon in open water, but both areas are full of lakes and streams inland

Looks like the summer fishing is generally more trolling in deeper water. I'm very interested in how you do. Good luck

Tiger Nation invaded Door County when LSU played Wisconsin in Green Bay a few years ago. The local restaurants, beach rental businesses, and grocery stores had never seen anything like it before. They want us back!

Getting there is tough. I almost included that but my post was already long enough.
Door county is also great and an easy drive if you fly into Green Bay. We went last August and the weather was amazing. Warm afternoons (kids swimming) but a light jacket needed at night.
View of Sister Bay
Al Johnson’s. Touristy but worth going to, and their beer garden next door is nice and kid friendly.
Breakfast at Al Johnson’s. Worth it but go early.
Door Country Brewing is worth a stop. Pebble beach is also worth a stop. Public walk-in beach, not as busy as other beaches due to the rocks but tons of kids swimming.
America, just because.
We stayed between Sister Bay and Ephraim at a cheapish bed and breakfast. Can stay in Sister Bay for walking access to stores and shops but we were <5 min drive and it worked just fine. This area also books up quick.

Probably just avoid the southeast all together. Hot and humid. Basically hell.

About to land in Denver on my way back from a weeklong trip with friends to Glacier National Park in Northern Montana.
High at Summit House in Whitefish on Friday around 11am local time was 43F at 6,817 when we got off the Summit itself.
Highly recommendable.
