OK so I listed them based on general perception/audience.

It seems people are trying to list underrated ones for this board and few that fit the bill have been listed.

I considered Spring a horror film, not to split hairs.

I can see the science fiction angle.

Great movie in either case.

Spring, Upgrade, Coherence, The Invitation, The Endless (which could make this list). The last 10-15 years of indie science fiction/horror has been REALLY strong. Heck, I'd throw Ex Machina in there among a bunch of others.

Another Earth and Spring are great choices

I almost listed Spring, but wasn't sure if it fit into the "sci-fi" category
