Looking at Tahiti, Bora Bora, Cook Islands. Is it worth the additional expense and travel time over places like Turks/Caicos?

Id imagine that most people do those places for the overwater bungalos. Turks got great beaches and water, 2nd to none, but it doesnt have that mountain/ tropical style terrain.

Friend of mine just got back from the Ritz in Turks and Caicos before their newborn comes along and it looked like paradise
He raved about it .

We were in Turks/Caicos a few months ago. Beautiful place. But I’m wondering if the S. Pacific is worth the additional 10-12 hours flight time and expense.

Places like Tahiti have different reef systems than the Caribbean with much more biological diversity and the people reflect a very different cultural history.
If I were to go through the misery of the long Pacific flights, I'd go on to New Zealand which offers a greater range of experiences and climates.

I was looking at Tahiti for my 50th next year. Until I realized that buying a professional sports team might be cheaper.

I’m We did Papeete, Bora Bora, Moorea and Fiji. It was an incredible trip and there’s no need for over water bungalows. It’s paradise on earth.
The water is beautiful in T&C but until you’ve been to an island completely surrounded by a reef that’s a tough statement to make. The water inside the reef at Bora Bora is spectacular. Take a jeep up to the old WWII observation point and the 360 degree view of the reef and lagoon is unmatched by anything I’ve seen. It is an amazing view.
