Most guys expected to be there at 8 have role playing starter ceiling at best. If one of the good starter or better ceiling guys fall to you, you have to take them unless your due diligence gives you reason to think that ceiling isn't realistic.

I've also heard multiple people say recently that the Pels put an extremely strong amount of emphasis on personality, character and hard work ethic in the draft process, maybe more than any team.
If they give Sharpe a passing grade on that, great. But there are so many little rumors about him in the character department (and especially the people surrounding him) that I'm not sure he would be a Pelicans fit.
