Suggestions for courses around Dallas that aren’t crazy high?
Posted on 6/3/22 at 2:34 pm to CajunTiger80
Cedar Crest
Sherill Park
Prairie Lakes
Firewheel
All of those are pretty good and not very expensive. Like any public course, it can be a little hit or miss, but they should never be horrible

I grew up playing Sherril Park, plano muni, then later Los rios, plantation, eldorado, and chase oaks

There's some ok club Corp courses that aren't too bad, but a lot of the stuff anywhere around the city is insane as far as initiations go. I'm pretty sure Dallas Athletic Club is like $45k initiation and it's not anywhere near the best course around.
And it would be dependent on where you live. I looked at joining a place, but it's hard to get to during the week so it wasn't worth it. You can play really good public golf every weekend for the same price as monthly dues at a private course.

Isn’t the wait at Dallas National decades long and like $250k initiation?

Im sure. I know for sure at Colonial, pretty much the only way to be a member is your parents are a member and they pass it to you. There's a bunch of rich dudes that can afford it that can't get in.

Probably. Trinity Forrest presold memberships during construction for $80-100k

With all of the great daily fee options around the dfw area, thslese initiation fees are pure stupid. I guess if you're an OT baller, with stupid money to burn, yiu could do it. But, why?

Waterchase. It's a few miles past Jerry World coming from Dallas, 25 minutes or so from Uptown/HP. $70 on Saturday mornings, so a little more expensive than others mentioned but worth it IMO
ETA: If East Dallas is easier, you can get on Tenison Highlands for ~$60 on the weekends. Cedar Crest is probably $45-50 on weekends and another solid option.

Waiting lists can be long and initiation fees can be prohibitive. Bunch of Dallas-area folks have memberships at Southern Trace and Squire Creek.

Fees are insane in Dallas right now.
TPC Las Colinas is 75k, 800/month.
Was like 7500 for junior back in 2019 with amortization but they got rid of that which sucks for me.
Most of the other I've looked into are 100k if its not club corp.

This is not true. My Cousin joined 2 years ago. No wait, parents are not members. And I think he got a decent deal because at the time, they were going to shut the course down for a significant period of time. I believe they are still going to shut it down, but I think they moved that date back.

I believe Dallas National is $250K. I think you can get in quicker by putting up more money.
Preston Trail has a long wait, and there is no getting around it.

Out of Town membership is cheap at da Squire ...stay on property for a couple bills a weekend and eat good food and play a great golf course....save that initation fee and buy a king air with 6 of your buddies in and out Friday-Sunday....living like the big dogs at Royal Oak n Preston Trails
