Will Jacob Berry be able to hit left-handed the rest of the year?

I’m sure he’ll at least be able to hit right-handed, which will be a big plus. But him being able to hit left-handed against RH pitching would be huge. It’s our biggest offensive advantage, but nobody seems to be talking about it. Just that he’ll likely “play.”

Thats the million dollar question

Still think he's important to the lineup even batting RH vs RHP... see the Vandy series for reference.

We need him in any capacity that he can play. As long as he is in the lineup at all we’re a better team.

I also found it a bit odd that it really wasn’t talked about much from the SEC Network crew.

Also, does anyone close to the team know if there is a Stingly situation brewing? Maybe after his other hand got hit at Vandy, someone said, “Eff this, let’s not risk his draft status with an injury.”

Without question. But he’s still the best hitter in college baseball hitting lefty against right-handers. And nobody’s talking about it. Not that Jay would until he fills out the lineup card. Even then, if we’re facing a RH, he doesn’t have to say anything until he walks to the plate, right?

Doughty and Berry are expected back for regionals per Jay Johnson.

Scared about and hopefully this isn't a Dereck Stingley Jr situation. That we haven't seen the last of Berry playing in an LSU uniform.. ??

It’s a weird position to put Jay in for sure. But baseball isn’t football. I think it’ll be up to Jacob, and if he can go, he will. I just want him to be able to hit LH. Bit a I’ll take RH only if that’s all we can get.

Berry is not a pussy like Sting. He followed his coach over here and still has something to play for.

It definitely played a part in Jay’s decision not to play Berry or Doughty during the tournament. Jay said himself, it’s something you have to consider with them being high round draft picks this year. I still think they both playing in the regional

He meant if they are not 100 percent then he doesn’t want to risk their career. This is not football and a meaningless bowl game this is the playoffs. If they are good to go they will play.

I agree the announcers on SEC network didn’t really emphasize the challenges of losing 27 HR and nearly 100 rbi during tourney. I mean that’s kind of a big deal.

LSU can make a run at Omaha with those 2 guys in the lineup.

I get that. I can also guarantee you that neither of them are 100%.

The SEC tournament wasn’t meaningless either. It was postseason baseball with major implications for us. Like I said, I still think they both play in the regional

I posted this the other day.
Doughty missed 1 game last year with the same shoulder issue although this one might have been worse. His issue will be the same until he has surgery in the off season.

Why? LSU never gets that kind of objectivity from the media. The causal fan just watching on tv relying on those national broadcasts would never know we were without two of our best hitters

But yea the media is unbiased in how they cover things

They mentioned it multiple times during games and said that the committee were so supposed to take that kind of thing into consideration (they mentioned Doughty being out too).
