Wife and I got back from a Panama trip last month. Stayed in Casco Viejo for 2 nights. Really enjoyed that area. Great food, bars, and you can see the cool city skyline by the water.
Flew to Bocas Del Toro for 6 days afterwards and really enjoyed it. No AC in our units, but managed. Just hopped to a different beach each day and drank.
Flew back to Panama City and stayed in a nice hotel. We were ready for integrating back into civilization and air condition.
Overall, I highly recommend a trip down there. Everyone was super friendly, felt safe, great food (mostly PC), and checked another Central American country off our checklist.
