re: A hundred school shootings a year wouldn't change my mind

Not to be an echo chamber, but I came to this same conclusion. God, it would kill me if this happened to my child. I asked myself: would the government taking away all the guns really prevent this?
And, after thinking it through, my answer is “no”. Maybe the body count would be less. But we could never 100% assure ourselves schools would be safe for our kids.
Tyranny against our liberties must remain in-check.

You take away guns and sharp objects and somebody can still run over people in a car.
I’d rather deal with guns then Fentanyl.

Of course not. Because bad people will still do bad things. And the government will do far worse.

I’m for less government and against strict gun control however I like to read things from historical view. But zero school shootings since they made stricter gun control laws.

Penned by a group from Scotland who’d endured a similar tragedy 22 years prior, the missive offered both a show of solidarity and a vision for the future. Referencing their successful campaign for gun reform, the letter’s authors wrote, “Laws were changed, handguns were banned and the level of gun violence in Britain is now one of the lowest in the world.” Since the 1996 Dunblane massacre, they pointed out, “[t]here have been no more school shootings” in the United Kingdom.

Just playing Devils advocate...
Who is taking away your guns? That's not going to happen. Ever. The government is not going to come to your house and take away your guns. Hell even Obama said he wasn't going to take away your guns. Certain politicians might try and take steps in that direction, but it's not going to happen.
If stricter guns laws helps the body count, which I think it would to a very small degree, I'm all for it. I don't see how someone, especially a parent, wouldn't mind it being a little harder for them to get a gun. If it keeps one less school getting shot up, or one less kid for that matter, it makes it worth it.
