quote:

When Matt Mauck joined the LSU football team in the fall of 2000, there’s no way he could have anticipated the impact he would leave on the program. A standout two-sport start in football and baseball at Jasper High School in Jasper, Indiana, Mauck was selected in the sixth round of the 1997 Amateur Baseball Draft by the Chicago Cubs. Originally a Michigan State football signee, Mauck opted for minor league baseball where he spent three years in the Cubs organization. After advancing the Cubs’ Class A level, Mauck had a desire to return to football and made his return to the gridiron with LSU in August of 2000.

One of LSU’s 3 championship “game manager” QBs until Joe Burrow got here.

He used to come to the alumni association watch parties at Blake Street Tavern in downtown Denver when I lived there. Nice guy and a class act.

The morning of the 2007 championship game against Ohio State, my brother and I started our all day tailgate at Serio's on St. Charles Ave. We were the first customers, and who walked in next? Matt Mauck, Rodney Reed, and Stephen Peterman.

We thanked them for 2003, and they were all really cool about talking football and their NFL experiences. Being a dentist, Mauck and I had a great discussion as he was just starting dental school.
