I have no particular love for ESPiN, but take this with a grain of salt.
This is not like cancelling Netflix or some other self-contained streaming service. Big chunk of this is probably people just cutting the cord and going with some mix of streaming platforms.
It's mind boggling to me that ESPN has not come up with a backup strategy on their primary content, and continue to hitch their wagons to legacy cable and satellite providers.

I dropped cable when the networks were crazy woke and my toleration was full. Froze U tube tv after Football season. When LSU decided to go woke over George Floyd I cancelled U tube TV since I am done with woke sports and am not waiting for nor need an apology.
Pretty sure I did not miss the event where they lit up the stadium in the high school colors of the LEO that died recently from being shot.

You got 11 downvotes but that's exactly what the article said. This has nothing to do with wokeness, it's people cutting the cord on cable in general, and espn can't replace them with it's streaming service due to contractual obligations it has with NBA, NFL, MLB, NCAA, SEC, and others.
