She is average size in height, very thin, used to hunt with me before PETA got to her, capable but inexperienced. i don’t know what the hell to do here

First off, pics.

Second, you already know the best advice given will be to take her to a range and rent different pistols until she finds one she likes.

Aside from that, the threshold question is, is she going to carry the pistol in a purse or holster, or just keep it in her home?

If only for her home then get any full size 9mm she’s comfortable with. Myself, I like the triggers on Canik so much that I own two. If she’s carrying, then you’re probably still looking at 9mm compacts. The usually recommendations are the offerings from the major brands and it’s just a matter of which ones fit her hand.

I don’t see a big benefit in deviating from 9mm. Snubnose revolvers are hard to shoot accurately, for me at least.

Glock 19 gen 5. Perfect home defense gun, but can be carried in a purse when needed. Won’t be as “snappy” as something like a P365 and you know the Glock is going to be dead nuts reliable.

My Canik SC Elite fits that bill too. Small enough to carry, big enough to be a pleasant shooter and home defense. Good price too.

You can get the same yellow taser that most law officers carry. You can get one a little tamed down.

All at Homesecuritysuperstore.com

You can get a 3 oz can of Fox 5.3, or Freeze + p, both i guarantee you that Any of the red down arrow checking mo fo's here would not be able to fight back.

I know. I was sprayed with the Freeze + p in training, and later experienced the Fox. Any of the above be sure to get in STREAM, not cone. The cone has no distance to it's discharge. These two are Not your so called Mace, like Ace hardware key chain toys. These are the real deal.

The guns, there are plenty replies that will guide you. Just reality, how situational aware is she. How easy would a perp disarm her? Will she be trained in weapon retention ?

I'm not anti gun by no means, but you have to consider all factors. If suddenly confronted by a perp who walked up to her in the parking lot, would she have the ice in veins calmness to quickly process what is going on, and react tactically, or shake and be hit with an adrenline release. Just things to consider.

Unless she faces an attacker that’s high on PCP and that taser or pepper spray is useless. Few shots to the torso and it doesn’t matter what they’re on, they’re gonna be in a bad way.

Academy has the shield on sale for $289.

If you can’t operate that, then consider not carrying

If she isn't carrying.

Glock 17

If she is carrying:
Glock 19/26
Glock 43/48

Or any of the other brands models that are similar in size.

Someone mentioned a can of freeze, that would be a good thing to invest in as well. Can by the door, can in the car, can in the purse.

I think the shield EZ in 380 is the best thing going for women. They are extremely easy to operate and shoot.

Walther just came out with a modified PDP made for women and smaller handed people. The PDP-F.

Michael Platt was hit with a non-survivable 9mm round on April 11, 1986, and went on to fight and kill 2 Agents after taking that hit.

If this is for home defense only, my wife loves the Walther PDP.

If want to carry, look at the P365 in .380.

If keep in purse and really want something tiny, the original LCP is great for what it is.

Give her some of that long spray wasp spray to use as self defense, until she gets a gun. Pepper spray doesn’t always work on people, but getting a shot to the eyes of a bunch of chemical poison, will definitely work. I seriously think wasp spray is the next best thing to a gun or knife.

Trust me on the Fox 5.3 and Freeze +p.

No one will continue to fight.

Teach her to be aware of whats going on around her.
When pumping gas, have the
OC/CS can in hand, and be aware of all people.

Teach her reactionary gap.
6 ft for most Law enf. No one enters. Man walks up, pretense of , " i'm looking for so & so street. Can u show me on this map "

NO ! No one breaks the 6 ft reaction gap. Stay there, and i'll tell you where that street is.

That is just one example.

The wife has a medium size k frame s&w .38

Not snappy.

Small enough for conceal.

Shoots +p

Goes bang. No slide to fumble with.

The airfreight are too light and snappy for follow up shots. This thing shoots great. I carry it during the winter in a bigger holster than my front pocket carry cm9
