I have enjoyed what I've read of him.
You touched on the basics. You probably read more of him than me. I'll need to catch up.

I read Blood Meridian and Child of God.
Blood Meridian was a difficult read because for some inexplicable reason, he doesn't use or often misuses punctuation in that book. It's weird. He does however have a good sense of history and does well setting the landscape and language.
Child of God is a better written but strange book. It simply tells a tale about a really fricked up hillbilly. It's set in Tennessee in the early 70's. It was an easier read than Meridian and fascinating in how it incorporated incest and necrophilia.

Yeah, I think it's hard to say you "enjoyed" The Road. Not my favorite.

I read Blood Meridian when I was deployed to Afghanistan, so maybe I had more pressing realistic issues of violence or boredom to deal with than the author's fantasy or the lack of anything enlightening from this novel.
I still don't get the hype. This was the first and only book I ever read by him.

“A man’s at odds to know his own mind ‘cause his mind is aught he’s got to know it with.” (I think that one is from Blood Meridian.)

I’ve been wanting to read his books for a while. Is he difficult to read/get through? Dense language and such?
