Bunyan's BBQ is super famous in Florence, AL for their BBQ. And although the pulled pork is great, it's the slaw and slaw dogs that really make it special.

Found this recipe online and tried it last night, and it is super close. Only thing I did different is no green peppers (didn't have any) and used only about 1.5x mustard to ketchup instead of 2x.

Give it a try.

Almost Bunyan's Slaw

The ketchup and cabbage kinda scare me. But I may try this anyway. I'm a sucker for a slaw experiment.

I'll definitely try.

Headed to Arbetter Hot Dogs in Miami next month. I heard their hot dogs are really good.

So I made some more tonight and canned it with some minor adjustments

This is it!!!

Veggie Ingredients
8 cups - Grated green cabbage
1/2 cup - Grated carrot
1/4 cup - Grated onion

Sauce Ingredients
1 tsp - Paprika
1 tsp - Red cayenne pepper
2 tsp - Salt (non-iodized)
1 cup - Sugar
1/4 cup - Goya/Crystal hot sauce (I used texas petes)
1/2 cup - Ketchup
3/4 cup - Prepared yellow mustard (like French's)
3/4 cup - White vinegar (add last, stir-in)
3/4 cup - Apple cider vinegar (add last, stir-in)

Mix up all the sauce ingredients and bring almost to a boil.

Pour over Grated veggies. Stir in, seal, and chill.

This recipe is for about 1 medium head of cabbage.
