I think you can get it tested at Auto Zone.

An Alternator is an easy fix, I put one in my wife's Camry in about 15 minutes and I can't fix anything. It was three bolts and replace to belt over the pullies

They have rebuilt ones at most part stores for $65.00.

You got a link to these $65 alternators or do you have to use your time machine to get that price

And 75% of those rebuilts are big piles of crap. If you decide to go that route, before you leave with it, have the store test it. If they can't test it, go get one elsewhere. Any reasonable mechanic will tell you that those rebuilts can't be trusted straight out of the box.

Sounds like it probably isn't the alt anyway. I was going to ask if the OP had installed any accessories recently. I would put my dollar on a ground that is bad from the heater installation.
