Now, I'm just fulfilling my own curiosity. In the Northern part of Alabama (from Bham North) there is no record high for May within the past 21 years. The most recent record high in May for that part of AL is 100° in Vernon on May 25, 2000.
ETA: I take that back, there was one on May 29, 2011 in Heflin. It was 98°.
Scottsboro has the oldest record high for May with 98° on May 14, 1899.
