That's what I do. Keep it clipped to the life jacket all day. Throw the life jacket on when driving, throw it on top the console while fishing.
It was a really difficult habit to form after a lifetime of never using neither one but now I'm glad I got into it.

Some of yall may have seen this before but I'll post again...
Pulled a guy out of big lake who was hit by his boat after being tossed out.
Almost had his hand completely taken off. It was hanging by a thread This was a big guy with a red shirt.
He was hard to see in the water. We followed the blood trail.
No life jacket and nothing to grab onto to get him in the boat.
Red shirt was invisible below the water line.
If that boat had hydraulic steering it may have just headed straight until it hit someone or something. You are a danger to others out there.
He was in a center console boat and was still thrown out.
Wear your kill switch.
