There was a case wherein he covered for his step son in a negligent manslaughter charge due to a late night boating accident on the Tchefuncte 20+ years ago. He and his people were using campaign funds and actual DA funds for their Thursday night dinners at Sal and Judy's. If you were part of his inner circle you could get away with just about anything. There are cases where he was railroading defendants in prosecution by actually threatening the defense attorneys with jail because they would demand discovery. He covered for a cokehead parish attorney for years as the guy stole money. Then he strongarmed St.Tammany Hospital to give his slap dick brother a job that he never showed up for. I could talk about his other " proclivities" as well.
Have at it. What you listed was known about for quite some time. Indefensible comes to mind. “Proclivities” was a tongue in cheek reference to that list (and more).
Nonetheless, the moniker of St. Slammany no longer applies imho, and I fail to see how money is the root cause of that. Hopefully, Montgomery can right the ship and start putting away criminals again. If so, then he deserves the cash. If not, then someone else will deserve the opportunity to do the job.
FWIW, I don’t have anything against Montgomery. I am being sincere when I say that I hope that he can get his office in line with public expectations. He can be the DA for the next two decades for all that I care, as long as he is effective.
