What's wrong with him deferring? How is it that everyone with this sizzling hot take acts like he's not going to have to serve in any capacity? He had to get permission from someone more important than anyone on this board to do so, so who gives a frick even if he doesn't end up having to serve?

I have no problem with anyone deferring. If that avenue is available to him he should take advantage of it. If he has to server later, or never, is not the issue. The issue is the poster effectively said "frick you" to the idea that the kid got the education and doesn't seem it to be a big deal that he not fulfill his commitment. At least that is the way I interpreted the finger. If that was not his intent I apologize in advance.
