Olave is a homerun in every respect

Kid was only a high 3* out of Mission Hills hs school in San Diego but that was only because he never went to any camps. Ryan Day discovered him by chance recruiting other players who raved about him. Anyway, so was Michael Thomas. Makes no difference. From his true freshman season at OSU he has made a big, big impact. Silky smooth (Seems to float in the air) with the best separation among WR's (even better than Garrett Wilson) and never drops balls. Best of all his his work ethic and character. Kid is no prima donna. There was a reason Jameson Williams transferred to Alabama and that was because he wasn't going to dislodge either Wilson or Olave and he was going to be displaced as a starter by Jaxon Smith-Njigba, whom Olave and Wilson said publicly was the best WR of the 4. Love what Olave brings and together with Thomas will be dynamic with Winston throwing the ball.

I watched some videos on him yesterday. His route running looks natural as hell.

He’s exactly what we needed at the position. Sure we gave up picks to get him but I’m glad we finally got a premier talent at WR. It’s been long overdue.

I liked both Olave and Wilson and would have taken either one as my 1st pick as both are athletic freaks.. Both are super fast. sub 4'4 speed. Olave seems to have a little better separation while Wilsons catch radius is through the roof...... Williams year at Bama really good but he had somewhat of a problem at times of dropping balls, at least at OSU.

Olave is very Stefon Diggs esque in terms of route running - very smooth in and out of breaks.

very very smooth route runner getting in and out of his breaks. Great job by saints moving up to get him!

Yes, and there is something else that I forgot to mention...... He was rated as one of the best trackers of the deep ball in cfb. I think that was big with the saints brass in making the pick. He literally put on a clinic in the national semifinal game against Clemson 2 years go and has done it consistently over his career. And we all know what Winston likes. Perfect.

IMO it's a big reason they picked him over Jameson Williams

Yes, didn't he say that "OSU fans disowned him" when he transferred to Bama, which from what I read wasn't the case at all. Jameson is good, but from what I've seen on tape doesn't have the all-around skills of Olave....... And what the fascination is with Drake London or Treylon Burks I don't know. Good, but not elite. London can't get separation and Burks is somewhat slow afoot.

I don’t know how he will be as a pro. And I actually think Wilson and Williams may be a little more talented.
But, Olave is so smooth and looks like a natural WR who does a lot of little things really well. Positioning, catching with his hands, route running. He just seems to have “it”. Reminds me of The situation with Justin Jefferson. Chase was more talented, but JJ was a smooth and dependable technician at the position.

I just hope MT can fight his natural instinct to act like a bitch……… so that they can get along.

Ehhhh Burks 40 time was slow, in game, he is anything but that if you’ve watched him.
