Probably not, laptops have to conform to different TDP's, i have never done audio production, but i've done some video work years back, and it was always on a workstation. Couldn't imagine using a laptop.
I'm sure there's a reason he wants a laptop, planning on DJing somewhere maybe and needs the portability?

Not DJing but definitely going to studio and visiting other producers to collaborate. As well as taking it on family trips, ect. He’s always grinding on his craft.
He actually just got signed to a pretty big label.
