The same players certain people on here are bashing now, are the same players that over the years they have checked the computer over and over again drooling and praying that they commit to us. These are students. 18-22 year olds. I am only 23 and I just graduated. I was at LSU for the best 5 years ever. National Championship first and last year. And even I know that you are gonna win some games and lose some games, you are gonna have great players, and not so great players. Losing to Florida could be the best thing to happen in a while. Shows the players that just because LSU is written on their helmet, doesn't mean the other team will just give up. This also gets rid of all the fair-weather fans and band-wagoners (i don't think that's a word). Anyways. If you are a true LSU fan nothing will cause you to give up on this team, you may question, and have every right to do so, the coaching schemes, cause even I do. But support the team regardless.

I put this in another thread, but thought that it could fit in even better here:

I understand that some people on here are worried about the "downward trend" of the defense..

okay.. even if I front you that arguement, I am just a bit concerned what is to be accomplished by beating the drums about it so much right now...

hear me out... Look at Auburn. First, on offense, they were having obvious offense problems, and I think Tubbs has done, for better or worse, whatever he could to right that ship mid-season..not really helping much, though, is it?

Now.. take their D.. I don't think much was wrong with the D to start the year, but as the program and fanbase environment blew up around them ( you CANNOT imagine the radio/print explosion around here the past 3-4 weeks!!), they have now become the defense that allowed Arkansas to score and win..

It's okay to be worried and concerned about the scheming, coaching, play/player selection with our defense.. but you may want to curb the all-out melt down, lest we end up with an entire team full of shell shocked college kids who are all suddenly prone to underachieving.....

This year may just have to play out before any majors changes are made. So be it. Then if there aren't changes made, you can chatter it to pieces the entire winter and spring...But do you think that having a judgemental, outraged, grossly disappointed fan base is going to have a POSITIVE or NEGATIVE affect in the way the back end of this schedule ends up??

p.s. I'm more than sure that Les Miles has no interest what so ever in what you are writing on here, and if anyone associated with LSU football is reading these astounding analyses, it's going to be the players, and I can't imagine that's good news for all concerned....

I'm from hoover originally, my momma still lives there and I know exactly what you mean. I think they may have a more delusional fan-base than us.

Agreed, the best thing we can do for this team is believe in this team. The real Tiger fans do that.

I really don't think the main problem is the players. The talent is there, at least enough to be good, if they can't be great. But if you don't have clearly better talent, you have to make the other guy slow down a little to figure out what you are going to do. Last year this this began to happen as our better, more experienced players got dinged up, and this year it seems that the defense is more of a read and react, soft zone, with a generally more predictable scheme. It isn't the player's fault when he is put into a poor matchup.

Exactly...hard for a player to make a play when he is looking to the sidelines when the ball is snapped.

Losing 51-21?

BTW, LSU has plenty of talented players. That isn't the problem.

I'm just trying to say, that it doesn't matter who or what people THINK are the main problem...

I think there's the possiblity of some sort of "self-fulfilling" prophecy here... the more people talk about a HOPELESS program, with HUGE flaws, that ARE NOT bound to be acknowleged or address properly, and that the team in on a DOWNWARD SPIRAL... it worries me that these attitudes will actually lend to these things being more likely to occur!!

4 weeks ago, no one said anything bad about Auburn's defense, but now in the midst of the malstrom--- they have become victims of it now, along with the offense, and the rest of the team....

jmho...

Auburn's problem is talent

he did hire a crappy OC for his talent, but firing that OC won't make up for tubby's recruiting misses

LSU doesn't have a talent problem on D

I didn't mention the word TREND.....

I said that now the defense that everyone felt was fine seems to be shaken along with the offense that was already very rattled from the beginning...

you seem to want to bring about change with your endless posts on message boards and I was just commenting that having everyone beat up to a frenzy at this juncture of the game may bring about a different change than you may be expecting.

Auburn's defense was holding everyone strong...

the bottom falls out, and it's non-stop raining fire for Auburn around here, (And you're right, the firing of Franklin didn't help, any more that it would help to kick our coDC's to the curb this week,) and suddenly Arkansas is able to win a game against that same not-as solid defense and take a win out of Auburn now....

I'm just SUGGESTING that calling this the apocolypic moment for LSU football may not be the "wake up" you expect.. it may be the "knock down" that the players don't react especially well to...

This is my opinion, I am welcome to have it, and I don't have to post any links to prove that it's my OPINION....

You got it ALL figured out, huh? Picked us to go undefeated, right? The general consensus was we would lose 2-3 games. How did Sat.'s loss exceed the consensus?

their performance post-LSU does not suggest this

AU lost that game because of offense

they had like 83 yards going into the 4th quarter

So you don't think that the Auburn defense has allowed more scoring, and been affected by the fallout from the fans and media? Do you live there? Have you heard the way things are going down there? People are calling for Tuberville's head right now, and people are no longer happy with anything about that program. Not any of the coaches, not the recruiting, not even the damned schedule that just came out for next season! I said that the defense was a point of pride IN THE BEGINNING... then, post LSU, when the boo-birds "chicken littles" and media outcry started was when suddenly, the defense that never let Ms. State score, and did have some good moments against LSU- was being scored on by TN ( terrible offense, if not worse than Auburn) and then by Arkansas, who up until that night was the worse team in the SEC....

You can submit all the numbers you want, but the same defense that started the season this year in Auburn would never let Tenn. move the ball at all, and could have held Arkansas just like they did Ms. State..

When things started imploding from inside that program, every player was shaken up, and they are now not going to play up to potiental.

Some things are intangibles, uncountable, unrecordable issues-- you cannot find me stats or any kind of numbers to measure the mental attitudes of a team, or the dimensions of the chemistry of that team to come together and perform their best under given circumstances.

If Peveto and Mallory are as inept as you seem to believe, do you think that they can/will make some sudden change today that will fix all this by Sat.? Probaby not... would firing them at this junction be prudent? Def. not....

So I am just offering that it may be in the TEAM's best interest for everyone to simmer down, and let this season play out, before wanting to see heads roll.

And... if someone from Les Mile's staff reads this message board everyday, and you are so completely and obviously right, then why haven't the guys in black suits and sunglasses come to take you away in the unmarked black suburban to the great secret game scheming room under Tiger Stadium?
