I wouldn’t say Steamboat is much less of a drive than Aspen - Aspen is about 3.25 hrs from Denver and Steamboat is about 2.75 hours without traffic. Both take 70 so no real difference in traffic either.

Park City at about 40 minutes from the AIRPORT is way more convenient than either.

Hayden and aspen are both airports that support steamboat and aspen, respectively.

I've driven from Denver to both and flown in.
Flying in is the way to go.
Unless you just have to see Colorado and want to drive.

Steamboat is great for families.
Aspen is better for adults. With snowmass being good for families and the best intermediate mountain of the 3 options (steamboat, park cut, snowmass).
Park city is a nice middle ground, but I worry that it has gotten so popular and crowded.

Fly in to Hayden for steamboat. It’s about a 30 minute drive with zero traffic.
