1) Pelini gone, 2 DC's
2) New QB
3) Unrealistic expectations

I personally feel it's #3, #1, #2.

Our expectations seem to be WAY too high, it's hard to live up to your prior NC season, especially when you lose the players you lost. That is the worst part of winning a NC, everyone feels we should turn around and do it again just because.

Pelini had us running at a high level and everyone knew their jobs, we seem a tad behind on plays, and the opposing offenses seem to dictate pace of play, not us getting in their grill and forcing them to do different things.

#2 is really not the issue, JL is good enough, he throws behind sometimes, but he isn't exactly getting a good push from such a highly rated offensive line...WR's are dropping balls too.

Discuss...

I agree with your ranking...3,1,2. I like our QB quite a bit in Lee. Yes, problems need to be fixed on D and one experienced DC might alleviate several of our problems, but I feel unrealistic expectations are plagueing our fanbase and perhaps the team itself... expecting to go in and beat Florida at home the way they seemed to. I feel much of #3 is resolved now, so it comes down to #1 being adjusted next. Our D needs to be active not reactive. Control the offense, make them earn the home run ball or the first down, if you give them all day they'll eventually find a man.

I think it is always good to have high expectations especially after the last decade that LSU has had. You can not win the NC every year but a team that has doen what LSU has done for the last 8 or 9 years should have the goal of competing for the NC every year.

LSU is now a top 10 program in college football and should expect to stay there for a long time to come. I definitely think it is best to have one DC that everybody else answers to and he answers to the head coach.

The QB is an issue but the RP think was not the fault of the coaching staff. They prepared RP throughout last year to be ready to take the wheel this year and he let LSU and his teamates down with his personal actions. Shame on RP, this is on him not anybody at LSU (players or coaches)

Things will level off and last weeks loss will make the team step up. The kids on LSU's team now are not use to losing often and they certainly are not use to having their arse handed to them like Florida did Saturday night. I look for LSU to be much improved this week The QB is getting better and he has the talent around him to be successful.

I think champions always expect to win and that is a good thing in my opinion. LSU fans should always have high expectations.

Just my opinion.

YES. Well, not really so much Pelini, the whole defensive scheme, two coordinators was a very poor decision by Miles.

2) New QB

No. We would still have the same record. If we lose a few close ones, probably.

3) Unrealistic expectations

Not sure how unrealistic expectations can hurt a team. Overhyped and overrated yes, but it doesn't affect performance. Affects perception.

I agree Scoop, but i guess its not really expectations in the same sense that I'm referring to... I mean assuming a team's your bitch and that they are afraid of you and will just roll over for you. The way our team came out so flat seems to reflect this attitude to me, and I don't like it. Yes, set your goals high, but don't assume you are great and will win.

I, for one, think that it is totally unrealistic that the defending National Champions should be able to beat teams that Ole Miss beats.

We can't see them, we are not on their level. Ole Miss is way ahead of us in recruiting as well as general program prestige and stature. Their defensive coaches realize that 4 out of UF's FIVE FREAKING (5) losses last year came at the hands of teams that blitz heavily and left Tebow bewildered. Our coaches are just not up to the task. LSU is not a training ground for coordinators. Miles is way too crafty to promote a ST Coord who can't even figure out that the crappunt formation sacrifices both protection (see LSU @ UF, 2006) and coverage (see Arenas, Javier and Returner, OleMiss).

So, yeah, you're right. Our expectations are just too high.

Enough of the sarcasm, though. Seriously, I expected to lose probably two to three games this year. But I also expect, that when a certain scheme, player, package, play, gameplan, etc. isn't working - that the problem will be addressed and fixed BEFORE it costs us a game - NOT AFTER. A loss is a loss and you are going to get at least one almost every year. But the failure to timely make adequate corrections is extremely troubling.

We already know that the soft zone/no blitz scheme cost us against UK and Arky. We already knew that the teams that had success against UF this year and last blitzed heavily. We already knew that McCray would have a huge target on his back and would be picked on (we've known this since last season for pete's sake). We knew UF would seek to jump to an early lead and take the run away, forcing LSU to beat them with a RSFr QB.

#1 is by far the biggest thing hurting us. JL really did not have that bad a game. he had no help from the running game at all. I'll give the running game a pass for last week because they have been outstanding all season and last year. They were due for a bad game. Our defense, however, has plenty of phenomenal players to prevent us from giving up 51 points to anyone and they shouldn't have given up 24 to state. we also shouldn't be ranked in the bottom third of the conference in almost every defensive category.

we have a winner! my friends and i thought we would beat uf, but hey i guess that's why we lost.

Having a really young qb doesnt help, but i do believe they will get better every game.

none of these really

1. our D has the same problems it had under bo p
2. Lee has played better than flynn played, statistically
3. having a good D isn't unrealistic
