Tips for Tiger Fans on there way to Columbia

First its going to be a great game, I am really looking forward to the matchup anyways I wanted to give yall a couple of tips on what to do, tailgate, and so on.
What to do in Columbia
A great bar scene if you want to be around a bunch of college kids goto five points about 10-20 bars in 3 block area, sharkeys is a great bar also if you in the mood for pizza the village idiot is awsome. Now if you want a more upscale place to get lose goto the Vista its right outside of downtown, awsome resturants and bars. If you have time Friday or Saturday, take a walk around USC campus it is beautiful start with the hourseshoe and work you way from there. Also Friday night I wouldn't goto the fair its usually crappy. on to GameDAY...
GameDay
Ive been to Baton Rouge a bunch living in the panhandle and nothing matches the tailgate at BR, so judge USC on that level. Williams Brice is an off campus stadium which suxs cause campus is dead on Saturday. If yall get there early Tailgate at the farmers market its like 10-20$ and is right across the street from Williams Brice. Tailgating will sux this weekend because the fair lot is closed due to the state fair, but there will still be plenty of people. If you get there early enough walk around Williams Brice and check out the CockaBoose - a tailgating train on the south side of the endzone. Williams Brice is located in an up and coming area, recently Condos are starting to pop up all around it taking away from all the ugly industrial crap around it.
Drinking
As far as open container you fine, never heard of anyone getting busted its pretty laid back like LSU, If I were yall I would buy my liquor before I goto Columbia, in SC liquor stores close at 7 on Friday and open and 9am on Saturday its always packed, so I usually get all my stuff before I get into town just a hint.
:cheers
If you need any more tips or any other questions let me know and I can try to help yall out!
thanks guys

Also, the local Music/Entertainment paper is the Free Times
Free Times Website
It has a list of clubs and what's going on there each night. And, I know from the OT that a lot of people like Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. We have one in Columbia now.

from a Gator who was there last year...
I personally like the setup at USC. The stadium is near nothing, it's all football and tailgating, that's it. I guess maybe with the fair in town it might be different.
One mistake I made was taking a cab to the game.
DO NOT TAKE A CAB TO THE STADIUM!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, there's nothing wrong with the cabbie we had or anything like that, the problem is with the traffic...it's one way out after the game. The crossroads at the stadium are one way only after the game to get the crowd out of the area as quickly as possible.
My financee and I ended up walking to downtown where the campus is before we could find an IHOP and a phone book to call a cab which never came. We ended up hailing one about 30 min later and eventually making it back to the hotel.
If it wasn't so damn cold or late we would have just hung out for a while and found some Gator fans, but I was sick and we had already spent the night before up way too late in Savannah so we were in no mood to stick around.
Had we known it was going to be an epic journey back to civilization we would have reconsidered, but we had no idea how far it was, and neither did any of the state cops we asked because they were all from other counties.

Nice Resturant 2 come to my mind but if your going out on Friday get there Early they get packed!
1)Blue Marlin in the Vista built in an old train stop awsome seafood and good prices
2)California Dreaming right of Blossom huge always packed Friday night wait usually about 1hr or so but well worth it good food and very nice place.
I think Blue Marlin takes phone call reservations
if you need more let me know I can help ya out
As far as Thursday night
Goto Five Points theres 20 bars all have Specials on Thursday, no cover on all of them pretty much I believe Sharkeys has 1cent Pitchers, if you go to fivepoints you won't be dissapointed its on of the best bar scenes on a college campus good luck man

Do you still have to buy liquor in little airplane bottles at the bars? It has been a long time since I have been to Cola.
