Didn’t someone do an analysis of this program and found out 1% of applicants actually have their student debt relieved?

The approval rate is low. Among all 1,084,792 combined applications for PSLF and TEPSLF submitted since November 9, 2020, only 14,566 (11,100 for PSLF and 3,466 for TEPSLF) have been deemed eligible for forgiveness, according to February 2022 data from the Department of Education. That means only 1.34% of all applications have been approved. However, 691,794 of those applications were confirmed as on track toward discharge.

The company/department over this program actively tried to screw people out of payments that would qualify. Change the price by a few pennies, move the date around, wait to process on time payments, etc.
As someone said it was developed as a way to drive people into public service, and then the government didn’t fulfill their side of the partnership.
Then starting to fulfill the the forgiveness is the right thing to do.
