Turkey hunting question

finally went today since our local guy nearly got one yesterday that gobbled for over 2 hours. (it’s hard for him as he has parkinson’s from his years at chemical plant and shakes like a leaf. ) Anyway they have been gobbling great all year. as I hit the ridge I do a couple of owl calls and I immediately had three distinct gobblers multiple times and then was able to identify three birds along a creek bed. (We also bumped a bird on way in. )
So 15 minutes into the Hunt I can basically get gobbles at will. One of the birds was clearly on our property the other one may have been and the third was definitely off. Since the birds have been gobbling on our main field basically every day, sometimes as many as 6 birds, I i pass on these birds. )big mistake, I didn’t hear another gobble on our property the whole day and never got a response to any call, they got lock jaw.
i Noticed the giant bobcat was cruising around at three or four in the morning last night but again they let up on that owl call immediately.
I also noticed a few stray dogs cruising around which always seems to affect the birds, and there’s a big storm coming in tomorrow. Which of these situations is most likely to shut down gobbling?

. "as I hit the ridge I do a couple alcohols"
Whiskey or beer?
On a more serious note, where in AL do you hunt? I think we may be near each other and would be willing to show you a thing or two if you would like.

The storm, but I’ve had them gobble at thunder.

I'm close to you outside Chatom. I don't hold turkeys on our place well for some reason. They're around, but roam too much for me to have consistent hunts

Were you still owl hooting at this point or actually calling? If you are constantly owl hooting or crow calling or peacock calling just stop Once you locate them, that’s it. Figure your game plan once you locate them and then change it up as the bird dictates

You are making this much harder than it should be. You obviously have lots of birds on the property and know where they are going to be. Get where you know they are going to be. Kill the bird. The end
Just step back and listen to yourself. You know where 6 gobblers are going to be every single day but you choose to go somewhere else. That’s as easy as turkey hunting gets right there Stop overthinking it

You are the problem. Quit calling to turkeys just to make them gobble. Making a turkey gobble is easy. Making him come to you isn't always.
Also, it's not uncommon for turkeys to shut down gobbling. They don't get "lock jaw" or "call shy." They just gobbled up their hens that morning and go about their day doing turkey shite. It's all biology.
Your threads frustrate the hell out of me by the way. I don't know where you are or if you are a troll but if you were close I'd come help you kill a turkey just to keep from having every thread you start be about how you got whipped by a bird.

If you know you've got all of these toms gobbling every day, I wouldn't be hitting an owl call. I would just wait until they start gobbling.

I suggest you (OP) do a little research on types of turkey calls and their uses and meanings.
Good luck!

That's like leaving fish to find fish.

I was just using the owl call to locate the birds that’s it, once they answered I quit.
The day before i got there our local guy who is completely disabled and uses one of those 10 dollar mechanical turkey calling things had one gobble back for over two hours then finally come into field but the bird needs to be less than 20 feet away and still for him to have a chance. They have been in or around that field for two weeks, so that was logical place to start. They have been gobbling well all week, they just didn’t do it Tuesday, which is weird for our birds, you can’t get them in range but they will typically gobble at everything. It doesn’t even excite me anymore.
First trip i ever had there with zero responsive gobbles all day. Saw a damn coyote on the field at 3am tuesday too. Maybe that’s it but we used to have tons.
I am sure I “over call” but hell i don’t make a sound for first 45 minutes as usually I wait for gobble before i start the game, it never came

You and the local fella are doing a fine job educating the birds too it sounds like. Going to be harder and harder to kill as each day passes now. Best bet now would be to just hush up and wait in their travel corridors.

i have hunted one day so far just for that reason bro, and i called every 15 minutes lightly at most as I don’t like to cold call except with owl (in am) and crow locator calls. They are not call shy from me

You remember me telling you this when you started the crap thread about vaccinations, and got absolutely lambasted for being a covidian?
Well I kept my end of the bargain buddy.
I didn’t forget.
Turkey hunting fits you just right wearing double mask I’m sure.
