I love the original spooky vampire flicks. It had the right amount of jump scares, suspense and comedy. I feel like the 80s horror films were just better.

Would like to add, I absolutely hated Fright Night 2011 remake. I though Colin Farrell and the cast weren't right. Jump scare moments were decent, but the movie had no soul to it.But I suppose it was better than a Ghostbusters remake.

Probably because the movie for whatever reason has not been released on bluray or DVD. I'm pretty sure it was only on VHS. Amongst the horror community for years people have been for a proper release of the movie. I think it might have to do with it being owned by HBO because The Hitcher is in the same boat.

Agreed, the only decent part of the remake was David Tennant. And even then he wasn't as good as Roddy in both originals.

I loved both original Fright Nights, actually like the second one more I think, but that's probably because I saw it first.

It was terrible. The whole production was one bad decision after another. Part of the charm of the first was the suburban family looking neighborhood, Peter Vincent being a loser but a sweet old man, and Jerry being suave and sexy. They moved this thing out to the desert, made Peter some goth magician, and made Jerry some kind of reptilian bodybuilder. And for me as soon as the CGI hit the movie was over. What made the original as well as other old movie monsters so badass was the makeup and practical effects, but here as soon as Jerry turns he turns into a cartoon.

The original Fright Night is literally my favorite movie ever, saw it when I was probably 5 and it's been magical ever since. Never understood why Chris Sarandon was never a bigger star he had amazing charisma and screen presence. I loved Part 2 for what it was, which was Julie Carmen being sexy as shite and one of the scariest vampire scenes I've ever seen

This is a very low bar.

One thing I can say for 80s movies in all genres, they knew how to mix humor into a story.

Fright Night is a perfect example. It entertains, it has a horror element and it's hilarious too. It isn't a 2 hour torture porn with a bottom shelf storyline.
