Tipped Ball = Tebow's Greatness

This is probably Germans, but I don't understand why the first touchdown that McCray tipped into Harvin's hands is recognized as such a great play on Tebow's part? Of course the stats show a 70 yard TD pass, but in reality it was a poorly thrown ball and should have been picked off. Yet, every highlight I have seen, the commentator notes how great of a play it was by Tebow.
I don't need a lecture on everything else that went wrong with the team, just answer the question or comment on the subject if you care to participate in this thread.

If he doesn't go for the INT and just plays Harvin, it's 3 and out...but oh well...can't get mad at him for trying to make the play.

the ball was underthrown and tebow benefited greatly by the fact that danny mc cray was in coverage (funny how every defense seems to find #44) .. i think colt david would have intercepted the pass ..

I sort of agree with you here. The media gets something in their heads, logical or not, and it becomes fact. I'm a little embarrassed every time I see that play. I mean, it counts the same on the scoreboard, but Tebow has been noticeably off this year. It was really odd coming back from teh game and watching Lou Holtz and Mark May put Tebow back up in the top 3 for the Heisman.

I agree that it wasn't the best pass.
He also had a subpar game againsts Ole Miss, but still the following week the media was rallying around him (the "no one will work harder than me" sound bytes).
I think commentators and the media find it hard to criticize him because of the way he handles himself on and off the field.
Kinda of like a Kennedy, he always comes out sqeaky clean.

sorta like USC already being back in the top five ??
in all seriousness, tebow is a great QB and perfect for that system .. your offense will be deadly as shite the rest of the season with your new wrinkle of the quick hitting, fast as lightning running game .. of course, just like all great things in college football there will be d-coordinator seminars on how to defend it in the offseason ..

Yeah, seriously... How sick does that make you? Also, I don't understand how OU only dropped a couple spots... BS. They've played one good team all year and got beat.

WITH OU'S ONE LOSS ALREADY AND THEIR BOWL HISTORY I THE PAST 5 OR 6 YEARS I DONT THINK A ONE LOSS OU TEAM WOULD BE GIVEN THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT. WEVE BEEN THERE ALREADY WITH OSU.

Did they pull or move McCray after that play? I don't remember seeing him much after that.

Harvin was open by at least 5 yards, and the ball was badly underthrown. McCray did Tebow a favor by tipping the ball up.

Look again. If McCray doesn't prematurely jump, he's actually right on Harvin. If he'd have stayed in stride he'd have intercepted or broken it up.
Now I'm sure if Tebow had led Harvin correctly, he would have been AT LEAST 5 yards in front of McCray...

Guess you and I were the only ones that saw it?

any defensive backfield player not only could have but SHOULD have intercepted that ball. I do not understand that ineptitude at this level of football.
