Look up lawn burweed on the web. Some refer to it as stickerweed. LINK
Atrazine, Fertilome Weed-Free Zone, Trimec, MSM Turf, Celsius will help to kill it. Be sure to add surfactant (spreader sticker) to any of the herbicides you use.
Try using pre-emergent herbicides in fall and winter, and its much easier to control with post-emergent herbicides when small/young in late winter.

It's crazy because I've never had this burweed in my lawn before this year and it has taken over nearly a third of my front yard. I applied some Scott's Turf Builder Bonus S Southern Weed & Feed (Sam's has it on sale) and it seems to be doing some work on them.
