The backup QB will be chosen for his time left in the program and ability to run the same offense as the starter. In other words, Nuss will be the guy and it will not be given to a 6th year senior who wouldnt be able to run the entire playbook due to lack of mobility.
I think Nuss enters the portal, if Daniels wins the job, we lose Brennan too probably.

There’s a very good chance if Daniels gets the job, he goes pro after this year. It would leave a great spot for nuss in 2023.
But let’s be real, the portal giveth and takes away. If Daniels performs at a high level, getting another qb with experience will not be a problem.
