Now that Davenport and Onyemata have restructured, and Roby has signed an extension, I think the pool of players that are young enough and attractive enough to the entice the Texans and have a cap hit small enough that we can trade them can be listed in this order:

Erik McCoy
Paulson Adebo
Payton Turner
CJ Gardner-Johnson
Cesar Ruiz
Pete Werner
Adam Trautman
Ian Book
Zach Baun
Landon Young

Gotta think Adebo and Turner would be the most likely, as they are cost controlled for several years and play two premium positions. McCoy and CGJ are probably the most sure things on the list, but if the Texans have no plans for competing in the next year or two, I don't see them wanting a player that will command top dollar next offseason.

I've prepared myself for these two

Erik McCoy
CJ Gardner-Johnson

...and just pray moving Ruiz back to his natural Center position turns out to be all he needs.

If it is Adebo and CJGJ that would boost their secondary significantly. I think we will be fine running with Latt and Roby. But Adebo was a great addition. I think losing CJGJ is more of a hit for us than Adebo.

I would hate to lose Ceedy but to get Watson it’s worth it

If Adebo is the headliner of the trade, Jeff Ireland deserves a raise. If you can turn a third round pick into the main player involved in getting a franchise QB, you are killing it in the draft.

I would be irrationally upset if we lose ceedy. Yes, it's worth it for Watson. But like I said it would be irrational. Dude is a big part of swagger of this defense. He's the perfect New Orleans Saint. I don't want to lose him

CJGJ, Kamara and Ram, and maybe MT13 are the only players I wouldn’t want to trade for Watson. Sure, in a vacuum you say it’s worth it to get a franchise QB. But I’d rather keep them and my draft picks and just re-sign Winston. That’s the cost analysis you have to do in this situation.

I’m honestly fine with any combo of these guys except Ceedy. Love that guy, he’s a huge piece to a defense that just lost another in Marcus, and I’d be concerned if he went too in how good they’d be.

Turner or Ruiz are the guys I hope to give up. Turner, because he did jack shite last year and we wouldn't miss him and Ruiz because he somehow made me miss Peat after his injury.

With you here. I love that guy.

The problem here is we won't know that for a while IMO

Yep, we would still have Demario Davis as a spark plug and Cam as the as the wise but salty father figure.

But that well honed edge for ceedy that cuts just before going over the line, that is hard to find.

I think the two defensive players in the plan to give to Houston are Adebo (we restructured Roby) and Turner (we restructured Onyemata and Turner played for Houston in college - Houston Texans should be familiar with him). They get two young guys on cheap salaries to go with the draft picks to build with for the future.

I'd be ecstatic if this went with 3 first and 2 3rds (our compensatory picks this year).

Edited to say: Hell, even through in Ruiz with those two defensive players and it still would be great in our favor.

Why is taysom not included in any of these rumors? Is his contract un-tradable?
