I agree, but there are actual news articles about some of these guys. First articles about them going over there, then articles about their unceremonious return.

As always with text based Reddit subs, you have to assume at least some of it is fake. Some is exaggerated truth. And a tiny portion is 100% true.
That being said there have been plenty of articles and stories about some of these volunteers that are pouring in that have little to no valuable experience to offer. Whether it be combat experience or actual medical experience. I think one ex-British paratrooper basically said these guys are just going to be cannon fodder.
