he would offer a brokered settlement wherein Ukraine would remain a buffer zone, with a pledge that it would never join NATO.
This is a reasonable offer for Russia. At this point though, the US has the upper hand by a wide margin. We have kept out of the mud and maintained military neutrality while inflicting a blow to Russia that is still growing. The impact won’t be felt until after the damage is irreversible in the near term. Biden’s strong play is to stay aloof and allow Russia to fall farther into the trap. With Russia hobbled, the US and our western allies will be stronger on the world stage.

I keep saying this is a disaster for Russia and Putin. This will spell the end of Vlad. He won't survive this ultimately.

There were plenty of posts saying why should Russia determine who can join nato? A valid point when dealing with rational people. But obviously that isn't the case. When digging bodies out of rubble is the alternative I would have made that agreement. Who gives a shite if Ukraine is in NATO when a building is falling on your head?

Unfortunately - We do not have the upper hand.
We do, however, have a unique ability to make this happen and we are not in part bc the MIC wants war bc $$$ and somebody in our own government is hiding some secret motivation. That’s what makes me furious about the whole situation.
I don’t have a dog in this fight and neither do you. The only thing negatively affecting our county is the economic shrapnel we’re getting hit with - partially self inflicted by globalist moronic ness but exacerbated by incredibly bad judgment to date. There is no danger that Putin is invading us. Russia does not have the economic wherewithal to actually run Ukraine. Putin doesn’t want to seize a third world country just bc he can. The dude is lethal and will kill ppl - but he doesn’t want to take on a welfare state half of which hates his fricking guts.
Military involvement is a net negative for us. Everyone else but the MIC and the moron running this country realizes that.
Nobody wants a war.
Putin doesn’t want Ukraine.
Putin just wants a NATO buffer and we’re getting outplayed by him and China bc the people involved on the US’s behalf arent interested in what’s best for the country, or for Ukraine - but instead in preserving their little whatever they have going on over there that they don’t want anyone involved (not Russia, not Americans, not ordinary Ukrainians) to know about.
