With all of the cheating that goes on how did Youngkin pull it off?
Trump's campaign manager in VA, John Fredericks, who is regularly on with Bannon, has said that the Dominion switching votes theory is BS.
Youngkin won the race because he stuck to the issues. Terry McWoke didn't run on a single issue that was relevant to the people of VA. He tried to make the race all about Trump and most voters didn't buy it. Trump was irrelevant. He was the former President and had nothing to do with the VA race. Meanwhile, Youngkin stuck to the issues. He talked about taxes, job creation, CRT indoctrination in schools, and spoke out against girls being raped by guys who dress as girls.
Youngkin was able to keep the MAGA base in the rural areas and he did much better than Trump in the suburbs by appealing to the wine and soccer moms who hate Trump and split the ticket in '16 and '20 (Clinton/Biden/Libertarian for President and Republican down-ballot). He was able to articulate his message to these people and made them aware of the indoctrination that is taking place in schools. There were plenty of moms who also wanted their kids in school and he ran on that.
If we're smart, his campaign should be the model going forward. Keep the Trump base happy in rural areas by having Trump work the phones, stick to the issues, not fall for the media's traps, and don't alienate suburban voters who historically vote Republican. If we do that then the Democrats are fricked. Whether or not we're smart enough to do that remains to be seen.
