No.
I simply believe those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

It's likely that a country which suffered such catastrophic human and material loss at the hands of a Western Invader might share such a belief, regardless of timeframe.

It is also possible that a country would feel threatened by an adversary flying nuclear capable bombers 12mi from its borders during NATO exercises. Would a sane person consider nuclear bombers a defensive weapon? Yet there they are, airborne within eyesight of Russia during a NATO military exercise.

Again, this conflict and the ongoing NK situation show that nukes aren't an offensive threat but are a defensive cheat code instead.

Does Russia truly believe they're under threat of an unprovoked nuclear bombing? Seriously?

That situation is not new, and has existed at least since the 1950’s and definitely since 2004. Russia shares a maritime border with Alaska and Turkey, and the Baltic states plus Poland have been in NATO for two decades. Russia’s Arctic coast has always had these concerns.

Russia wants Ukraine to be pro-Moscow but don’t pretend like it’s about the abstract possibility of NATO aircraft coming near Russia. They do that constantly around Russia’s borders in the Baltic and the Arctic already and have for decades. Russia does the same thing to Europe and the United States.
