Does anyone here know if there’s a course that will allow a 5some on a Friday in Houston?

I have friends coming in for the Shriners Classic and we’re trying to get a round in somewhere without splitting up.

I’ve tried Wildcat and Tour18 already but both only do them Monday thru Thursday.

Southwyck in Pearland has 5somes on weekends.. I’ve been stuck behind them several times. As long as they keep up the place of play, no one tells them anything.
From Downtown Houston it’s only a 20min easy drive down 288.
But it’s a goat ranch and not worth $50.00 in my opinion. But you can definitely have a good time.

I’ve seen 5somes at Eagle Pointe GC in Mt Belvieu as well.. it’s more expensive than Southwyck but a much better track. Downside it’s a further drive east.

Eagle is in my rotation and the pace of play out there is ridiculous. I still go because it’s an awesome course but I go full on expecting a 5 hour round unless you go before noon.

What other courses do you recommend? I recently moved here and have played Wildcat lakes course and both courses at Black Horse.

Cypress wood Traditions, High Meadow Ranch and Gus Worthem are worth checking out once.

I’m in south East Houston so my rotation used to be Eagle Pointe, Bay Forest, Timber Creek and Pearland Golf Club. I would recommend all of them beside Timber Creek. I haven’t been there in like 8 months cause the course was in such bad shape. Those are public courses. I Like all the courses the person above mentioned too.

Thank you! I live in rice military so any course is a trek for me. I’ll check yours out for sure.

Then Gus Wortham should be in your rotation for sure.

Galveston courses can be fun as well.

Battleground in Deer Park is close to you, they use to keep it up, haven't been there in a few years.

I’ll play Gus if I’m off during a week day and agree about the Galveston courses except the wind down there just kicks my arse lol. Battleground hasn’t been good for a few years now. I’ll play it probably two or three times a year when I have a friend who is knew to the game or a friend that wants to bring their kids.

I'm in Southeast Houston too, League City.

Love Eagle Pointe. I also enjoy Clear Creek, though I haven't played there in a while. I agree with you about Timber Creek, not worth the money.

I miss Evergreen Golf Course. Was great for the price. Had a very fun layout.

Unlimited play, but not on Saturday. It's $149.99 per year, but a two year membership required.

It's on their Facebook page, scroll down as little.

Huh? Unlimited play other than Saturdays for $150? There must be a green/cart fee in top of that.

Yeah I played evergreen a couple times but it was when I was first learning to play. Baytown is actually in the beginning stages of bringing it back.

I think a good golf course in Pasadena would do good. I remember they had one off of red bluff and thought it was decent. It was better than their municipal course.

I liked Evergreen the one time that I played it.

I hope they do bring it back and I hope that it spurs on more course development in the metro area.

Played there Sunday, front 9 greens were in rough shape, but the back was much better. Good course but not worth the $45-$50 they are charging in its current condition
