Here's what I cant figure out. Well, I can, I just dont know why no one else is raising hell.

Entergy gets reimbursed those lost dollars from FEMA. That's why the send out teams of surveyors to assess the damage. I witnessed this personally during Ida recovery. 12 trucks sitting in a parking lot having a circle jerk. I asked them what the hold up was and they said they had to wait on Entergy to finish their assessment... I said "here's the assessment... everyone from that transformer down doesnt have power and there aren't any down lines." Guy responds with "we know... we drove it this morning."

It's a racket.

Under federal law, private investor-owned utilities like Entergy are not eligible for FEMA disaster assistance. Only government-owned utilities and electric co-ops are.

The only significant source of federal money available to private utilities are HUD grants, which must be applied for and justified after the fact on a case-by-case basis. Entergy pioneered that route after Katrina.
