Have property in Acadiana area that is locked by other land owners on 3 sides. The remaining side is bordered by a state Highway. Access to the property for many years was over a wooden bridge with pipe base over a large drainage ditch (gulley, coulee etc) about 15–20’ deep and across. The old pipes that formed the base across are all that is left after the parish dug out the gulley. Anyway contacted the police jury and they will build a structure to allow us to have egress onto the property but we provide the materials at our cost. My question is where is the best place/person/business that can look at the situation and provide the best option (s) and needed plan/materials list for me to provide to the PJ? TIA

Well if you look on the OT there are 400 engineers on there, possibly get one of them to help you out.

I would try to talk to one if you know one, might be able to help you out.

The parish tore down the bridge?

I think that this may be the key. If they removed the access bridge, then I believe that they are likely to be legally obligated to provide the replacement at their cost.

I wonder if the original bridge was permitted and approved? If so, the parish is definitely responsible if they removed it.

On a side note, a flat rack shipping container makes a great bridge. You can get them 20' or 40' long, make them two wide if you want. Just need some concrete support on the ends, or at least overhang onto the banks pretty far, and rock the ramps on both sides.

This is the ticket

Wouldn't two 18-wheeler trailer frame/decks work as well? Depending on the width and weight rating needed
