I think what really finally killed it for me is when I missed out on an entire season because I was already pretty well burned out on the show, then picked back up the following season because my ex still wanted to watch it, and realized that missing that entire season really had no impact on my ability to follow what was going on. Literally nothing had changed. Still the same group of people wandering through the woods.

Sort of the same for me. I skipped the last half of one season, turns out I didn’t really miss anything when I watched the following season. I stopped around the time they captured Negan. That whole story arc was so dragged out.

It’s crazy to think this same show was so insanely popular at one point. Everyone from kids to adults were obsessed with watching this show. The cliffhanger on who Negan killed was the beginning of the end of its insane popularity. But it had been clear for a few seasons at that point that AMC was going to milk this show dry.
