I’ve long believed, even before Russia took Crimea and the Donbas, that there was no reason for the US to remain in NATO. There is no reason why the Europeans can’t form their own defensive alliance against Russia. Frankly, Europe has been a bunch of freeloading spoiled children to the US since 1945 and it’s time to cut them off. As the other poster said, they have large economies and an educated population base that should be more than capable of defending themselves against Russia.
