I imagine he will hit in the 5-6 hole. He will have numerous RBI opportunities.

He would have to hit considerably better than that to overcome the pre-season hype of Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and even Kentucky's shortstop.

Thompson is very good and it poised for a great year, but it doesn't seem like you know much of anything outside of LSU.

I think you see a better approach out of Thompson this year. Much fewer Ks and an improved number of BBs. I think he's a perfect 6-7 hole guy based on what we saw last year and including some expected improvements.

Didn't CJJ recently say he likes his best hitter in the 5 hole? I could see JT being 6 or 7 depending on who is hot.

Will be a fun year

No. Because no coach would ever say they don't want to guarantee their best hitter a plate appearance in the first inning.

He said his best hitter in the 2 hole. The 5 hole was the scary guy to come up with the bases loaded.

I'm thinking someone like Beloso or Dugas in 5 hole. I like Thompson in the 6 hole.

I think he meant he wants a power guy in the 5 hole.

Jay has said numerous times he believes Thompson is the most improved player on the roster. Definitely feels like some folks are sleeping on him.

Biggest jump I actually want to see from him is defense at SS, not that it was bad last year, but if he can go from average to good there it would be hugely beneficial.

That's amazing given that Blake Money is starting on Friday! Imagine, if it bears out, what that means for Thompson.

It's possible he was talking about just position players but cant remember. Just remember him mentioning Jordan multiple times about most improved players.

Their of some really informative videos and interviews of CJJ press conferences out there on YouTube with pitching staff and entire roster info. I am not linking the post because it never works when I try. TigerTV, Cullotta’s show, Hunt and Hill in that order if anyone is interested. Hunt and Musso also did a good video on YouTube as well
