Person gets offered job of 40k salary, with intention to make 80k

That person turns down job and starts business, but emailed the guy back to see how he and his business were going.

Now guy still wants person to work with them and wants a meeting.

How much should person ask for to do contract work / per hour contracting?

Should person ask for a down payment for services? Especially since this guy really wants to work with person.

Basically an 80k job offer turned down. Now I started a business and this dude wants to still work with me. I still have to meet with him but I’ve never done this before, so I’m curious.

Dude is a president of an agri business. He wants my abilities (consulting/independent work)

Hope this helps a bit.

You’re asking randos on the internet how much you should be charging for the business you started? Is your business Retarded LLC?

Never done independent contracting so I’m curious. Plus some McDonald’s now days are paying bonus. Why shouldn’t I ask for something. I’m just asking if that’s appropriate or what is standard. Retard.

Charge him $100 an hour. 80k per year is roughly $40/hr. Charge him a premium for being a third party and not offering you 80k to start if you possess such a valuable skill.

Looks like you're thinking about asking for a retainer of sorts prior to results. A signing bonus. Just ask for 5K and the negotiation begins.
