An honest question about Saban...

...considering how quick we returned to national prominence, to this day I fail to understand why so many of our fans appear to hate the man. Look at what he did here! He won a share of the national championship in just his fourth year here! Considering that four years earlier we set a school record (Houston game) for consecutive losses, that is a quantum leap to have us in that position so quick. I hated when he left for Miami, but he didn't owe us anything else. And no, he didn't then, nor does he now, need ANY of y'all's approval to be the head coach at Alabama. Yes, it's weird seeing him on THEIR sideline, but I don't hate him for it! I'm grateful for what he did for us while he was here!

I dont think being 6-0 midway through the season with one impressive win, and two struggles against shite teams qualifies as "back to prominence." Bama could still very well lose 3-4 games (including their bowl)
Though yes, he has done a fantastic job so far.

The answer is pretty simple. People around here are bitter and can't get over the fact that LSU has moved on, along with some of the fans.
It's why lots of people look down upon our fans...it's the whole lack of self esteem thing. Sort of like a jaded school girl...apparent by some of the responses in this thread.

Nobody is questioning what he did for the program OR his right to leave.
TO the hopefully last of the multiple Saban threads I repeat:
IT IS THE WAY HE DID IT that makies him a money grubbing douchbag. Then he comes back, not only to the SEC, but to the frickin' SEC West. He deserves everything he's gonna get on November 8th. The man (and I use the term loosely) has not one ounce of loyalty, or honor, in his gold plated body.

1. When he arrived at LSU, he said that to build a championship program, it would take all of us, fans, administration, boosters, etc., to upgrade facilities and create the academic center. He was right. We all stepped up and most of us contributed money for the first time, or more money than we had been. We were in full support of him.
In his first year recruiting for Alabama he told Phelon Jones and his dad that he [Saban] was responsible for the success at LSU. “Look what I did at LSU. I am going to do the same at Alabama and I have more to work with here”. Hmm, what happened to the rest of us?
2. In 2002 he publicly chastised a recruit for de-committing from LSU to another school, stating, “It really says something about the kid’s character and I blame the parents for not enforcing a commitment. When you make a commitment, you honor it!”
In his first year recruiting for Alabama, he attempted, and was successful with one player, getting him to de-commit from LSU to the Tide. Hmm.
3. When he left LSU he said that it was to follow his dream. We were disappointed, but understood that he wanted to “follow his dream” and rooted for him while in Miami. He lied about negotiations with the Dolphins, all the way up until Christmas Day. Had he been honest we could have broadened the scope of our search. We were fortunate to land Miles.
4. He lied about being the “coach at Alabama”. Once again, negating everything he had preached about honoring commitments.
5. He preaches against negative recruiting. Do you really need me to continue with this one…?
6. When he took the job at Alabama, he tried to steal away Moffit, Stacey Searls, and Jimbo Fisher. Yes, this alone would be enough to anger most Tiger fans.
7. I could go on but I will end with this. He is now the coach at another school that makes his best attempt to prevent LSU from winning championships. If none of the other points above are reason enough for you, then think about this one. Do we love Phat Phil, Tubby, Meyer, Richt? Hell no. We hate them with every drop of purple and gold blood we have in our bodies. Why should we feel different about Saban.
I respect Saban as a coach and am thankful he broke through the politics of the LSU football program and renewed a winning spirit. He might be the best coach in America, not for game-day coaching, but for building a program. But I don’t have to like him.

People please stop responding to this guy.
Some of LSUElvis's most recent posts:
Saban was the greatest coach LSU will ever have.
LSU fans suck for not being thankful to Saban (with a "share of national championship" thrown in for good measure).
Les Miles sucks hard and he truly hoped Miles would be fired last year.
Ricky Jean-Francios sucks for being named Ricky Jean-Francios
Most memorable thing about Skyler Green is that LSU sucks for losing to UF in 2003.
Playing in the Sugar Bowl sucks.
Score prediction- UF 41 LSU 23
LSU will lose to UF in Gainesville since thats the last place we lost in regulation.
I'd much rather hear a live band than watch an LSU football game.

Stop using the word "us." Go back and read any of your many douchebag posts.
I'm sick of these closet LSU haters trying to come in and sound like a retard. You're dumb as a stump if you think anybody is believing you.
