This is 100% brought to you by your federal government. They are eking out tiny percentages wherever they can to improve their CAFE numbers. That's why your engine turns off at stop lights. It's why your 10 speed automatic transmission is always aiming to stay at "idle." It's why we're twin-turbo charging sub-2.0 liter motors.

None of it is really about what the customer wants. It is 100% about government regulation, and how the car performs on the EPA fuel economy test loop. frick how it actually is to live with.

It's like this on the new model semi's as well - horrible horrible ideas that do zilch to help fuel economy. Before I got sick I had a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia that would have the transmission coast when it senses an incline ending because we all know every incline leads to a direct decline, right? There's no possible way there's another climb ahead or perhaps its just a bit of a leveling out on the side of a mountain. Its a blast pulling 40k lbs up a hill then suddenly losing all power and momentum because of this "technology". A semi shifting into neutral going up a hill is just fricking stupid - thanks Bush/Obama for the wonderful EPA guidelines yall imposed.
