We ask if they are up to date on shots & heartworm prevention
Part of the adoption contract is saying you will get yearly rabies vaccinations & keep the dog on heart worm prevention

So why on earth won't rescues let a family with a child (8 at the time) adopt a small or medium dog???

My wife and I went and met the dogs, then we brought or son to make sure he was good with the dogs, then we brought our current dog to make sure everyone got along. The rescue let us waste all this time knowing all along they were not going to let us adopt this dog because we had a kid.
